Gorsey Clough is an ‘Excellent’ Home!
Gorsey Clough has been awarded a maximum three star ‘excellent’ quality rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body that regulates care services in England. A three star rating is the highest quality rating for a care home provider to achieve and is equivalent to a five star quality rating in the hotel and hospitality industry!
Quality ratings are calculated following a key inspection and as part of that inspection, the CQC looks at a range of evidence from different sources including:
- Interviews with Staff and the people using our service.
- The information we have supplied in our annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA)
- Surveys filled in by people using our service, their relatives and other professionals involved in their care.
- Observations from visiting the Home and other relevant information.
To ensure Inspectors interpret this evidence consistently, they use guidelines called key lines of regulatory assessment (KLORA). They apply these guidelines to help them form a judgement about how well our serivce is meeting each of the outcome groups in the national minimum standards.
An Inspector’s primary concern is to assess the quality of outcomes that people who use our service, experience. Once the Inspector has used KLORA to reach a judgement about each outcome area of the National Minimum Standards, Inspectors apply a set of rules to calculate the overall quality rating of our service.

Our latest Inspection Report has yet to be published and we have an obligation to keep our old one on the website until that time. Hopefully, it will be available to download and view in the next couple of weeks.
