New garden gives sensory help to Residents

Residents are having a blooming good time reminiscing about years gone by with the help of our new Sensory Garden. Green-fingered Susan Harland, the Home's Health and Safety Manager has created the garden to help Residents suffering from dementia remember good times and boost the well-being of Residents with other serious age-related health problems.

The garden boasts plants including geranium, sweet pea, sempervivum, fedium and heather which have proven health benefits.

The Residents like to get out in the garden to smell and feel the plants and shrubs. They talk about how they used to enjoy doing things in the garden and we hope to develop the feature further by introducing other plants, flowers and even a water feature. Obviously, with Sue as the Company Health and Safety Manager, the Resident's safety will be of paramount importance!
